Russell Vickery (he/him) was for many years the LGBTIQ representative on both the Victorian Government’s Family Violence Victim Survivor Advisory Council and the Department of Justice Victims of Crime Consultation Committee. He has told and sung his story of surviving intimate partner violence in a queer relationship to thousands across nine seasons of his stage show, My Other Closet the Cabaret. His advocacy has reached millions via news and media. In 2018, he became the first LGBTIQ victim/survivor to share his lived experience on national TV on ABC’s You Can’t Ask That, later returning for One Plus One with Rosie Batty (both on ABC iView).The pub hosting this event is just a short walk from Woodend Station if you’re taking public transport. If you’re driving, parking is available around the venue.
The event is located on the ground floor and is wheelchair accessible.
