Talking Mats Foundation Training
About
Talking Mats is a research-based tool to help people think about a topic or issue and communicate their opinions, ideas and preferences more effectively. Foundation training enables attendees to gain the necessary skills and strategies to use the Talking Mats principles which help to facilitate communication using this tool.
About the training:
Talking Mats Foundation training is run across two mandatory half-day sessions. Participants will receive 6 CPD points and a certificate of attendance.
Please note: Ticket costs are inclusive of both sessions.
Both sessions are mandatory, and participants are required to practice using Talking Mats between the sessions.
This enables you to have more 'hands-on' experience with Talking Mats and provides the opportunity to explore and discuss any issues or questions you may come across!
Session 1: Thursday 4 December 9:00am-12:30pm
Session 2: Monday 22 December 1:00pm-4:30pm
This training will help you:
- Use Talking Mats to support the children and adults you work with to share their feelings, thoughts and views
- Reflect on your own communication and evaluate your own ongoing implementation of Talking Mats
- Learn how to use careful planning to further explore issues that may arise
- Learn how to personalise Talking Mats for use in your own setting
- Discover our Talking Mats research and evidence base
- Connect with practitioners around the world in a growing community!
Participants:
Anyone who supports children and/or adults with communication difficulties, such as allied health professionals, educators, support workers, support co-ordinators or even family members!
