IRB Crew Course
About
The Inflatable Rescue Boat Crew (“IRB”) Award allows the holder to support the IRB Driver in operating the IRB. This includes participation in Water Safety Events, including Sunday Morning Nippers, Busselton Jetty Swim, and all State/National Competitions. The purpose of this course is to provide participants with the skills and knowledge to effectively crew an IRB in Rescue Operations.More specifically, the learning outcomes of this course include:
Understanding the roles of an IRB Crewperson
Learning how effectively Crew the IRB
How to complete pre-and-post operational duties, and how to maintain the IRB (i.e. setup, pack up, and store)
Introduction into Search and Rescue (SAR) techniques
Pre-Requisites
Be at least 15yrs of age on the date of final assessment (i.e. birthday before 14th December 2010)
Hold a current Bronze Medallion
Be a Financial Member of a Surf Lifesaving WA-associated club for the 2025/2026 season
