Advanced Family-Based Therapy for Eating Disorders
About
This advanced workshop is for clinicians experienced in Family Based Therapy (FBT), an evidence-based treatment for eating disorders first developed at the Maudsley Hospital and later refined in the US. FBT positions parents as key to their child’s recovery from anorexia nervosa, within a developmentally sensitive, structured model. While simple in theory, FBT can be complex in practice. This two-day workshop supports clinicians to reflect, strengthen their practice and integrate systemic family therapy concepts. It focuses on building a secure base, managing challenges like parental conflict, disengagement and strong emotions, and using advanced skills to support in-session communication. Participants must have FBT experience and training in child and adolescent mental health.Date
