In The Presence of Light
About
A luminous journey through love, loss and the spaces in between.Percy Bysshe Shelley’s haunting The Sunset, set to music by Ottorino Respighi, forms the heart of this intimate new work, a deeply personal exploration of love, grief and memory, told through music, movement and light.
Shadow puppetry, contemporary dance and recorded voices from across Australia intertwine with Respighi’s score, reimagining Shelley’s gothic poem for a modern world. The result is a quietly powerful meditation on the universality of longing and connection.
Created and performed by pianist Nathaniel Kong, dancer Mia Rashid, designer Jacqueline Chapman and mezzo-soprano and shadow puppeteer Spark Sanders Robinson, In the Presence of Light blurs the line between concert, installation and theatre piece - an experience for the open-hearted and opera-curious alike.
