Syllabification to create independent readers
About
One of the most important ways of learning to read is decoding, and an important part of this is to be able to syllabify words and know how to pronounce each syllable. By learning the seven syllable types, students are then able to pronounce most words independently. This then aids in spelling and reading, thus making them more independent and motivated learners. In this online session Brigeen Gilroy will discuss the seven syllable types, and how she uses different activities and strategies to help students become more independent learners who can pronounce, spell and read more effectively.
