The BoƮte presents Kankles and Sheng - Church of All Nations
Visiting Lithuanian Kankles musician, Regina Maroziene and Chinese-Australian sheng player Dr Wang Zheng-Ting join forces for workshops and concerts this month and in November. Wang Zheng-Ting first met Regina, at an academic conference in Europe and remarkably, they found musical commonalities from half way across the world and began a collaboration.
Regina will be joined by local kankles ensemble for this special workshop and concert.
Kankles is the Lithuanian member of the zither family. Zithers are played in various forms and styles across the globe. Strings stretched across a sound box, plucked or struck, provide a sweet, harp like effect, but each with their own particular sound and intonation, and traditional repertoire. Regina Maroziene is a performer and a teacher and academic, with an agenda for the traditional music and instruments of her country.
