About
This professional learning session, facilitated by Ashraf Samsudin from SPELD Victoria, explores UFLI Foundations, an explicit and systematic phonics program that introduces students to the foundational reading skills necessary for proficient reading. Participants will unpack the structure and instructional routines of the program, view demonstrations, and deepen their understanding of effective phonics instruction.Learning Outcomes:
Understand the principles and structure of UFLI Foundations
Deliver UFLI lessons using evidence-based routines
Strengthen students’ phonemic awareness, decoding, and encoding skills
Use assessments to guide targeted teaching
Promote consistency in foundational reading instruction across classrooms
