Monash Health general / ward-based registered and enrolled nurses.

**PLEASE NOTE: This course is designed for non-critical care nurses. Prior to booking please ensure that you have the support from your manager. If you intend to take study/professional development leave, this needs approval from your manager. If you do not attend your booked session, your manager will be informed.

Course at a Glance

The S.O.U.P. course provides participants with the opportunity to practice the technical and teamwork skills known to enhance patient safety and to assist clinicians with improved confidence and competence when managing acutely unwell patients. This course provides entry to practice students with an opportunity to practice important skills to prepare them for safe graduate nursing practice.

Core Topics

Use of a structured approach to assess and manage unwell patients.
Latest evidence about clinical deterioration in ward-based environments.
Effective communication strategies that aid teamwork coordination and clinical decision-making.
The course includes interactive lectures, team work and problem-solving activities, clinical skills workshops, simulation scenarios and facilitated discussions.

Course Information

S.O.U.P will commence at 8.00am and concludes at 4.00pm. To allow the course to run to time, registrants are asked to arrive 15 minutes prior to the course start time. 

Please bring your stethoscope with you on the day.

Course Fees

Monash Health Staff : $0 . To secure your place, a $50 deposit is required. This helps to reduce non-attendance and ensures fair access to the course. A refund of the entrire fee minus the processing charges will be made once you attend your booked session.

Course Cancellations and Deferments:

•  Course fees minus the admin fees will be refunded if the participant attends the course 
•  Cancellations made more than one month prior to the scheduled event: The deposit will be fully refunded.
•  Cancellations made within one month of the scheduled event: The deposit is non-refundable, except in circumstances where an official statutory declaration or a valid medical certificate is provided.
•  A refund will not be granted if a registrant fails to attend a course.
