Jack Sharkey’s The Murder Room is a fast-paced and delightfully farcical spoof of the classic English murder mystery. The story begins two days after Edgar Hollister marries his glamorous new wife, Mavis. But all is not as it seems — Mavis, it turns out, is a scheming fortune-hunter already plotting her husband’s demise. When Edgar mysteriously disappears, suspicions rise, bodies vanish, and the eccentric characters who inhabit the Hollister country estate find themselves caught in a whirlwind of confusion, chaos, and comedy. Twists abound as secrets unravel and the line between victim and villain blurs in the most unexpected ways.
Filled with witty dialogue, outrageous situations, and tongue-in-cheek suspense, The Murder Room pays homage to (and gleefully pokes fun at) the great British whodunit tradition. It’s a perfect blend of mystery and madcap humour — proving that in this murder room, nothing is quite what it seems!
