Handel's oratorio is structured in three parts and follows the liturgical year. The first part corresponds with Advent and Christmas, beginning with the foretelling of the coming of the Messiah by several prophets, his birth, the annunciation to the shepherds by the angels, and comes to its conclusion with reflections on the Messiah's deeds. Regardless of one's religious beliefs, it is hard not to be moved by this visual and aural spectacle that is the Messiah, brought to you by the Cleveland Chorale, local soloists and members of the Great Barrier Reef Orchestra - one not to be missed.General admission - no allocated seats.
