Building Connection in the Teenage Years
About
Northside Christian College warmly invites parents to a special evening with Dr Christiane Kehoe, co-author of the Tuning in to Kids® and Tuning in to Teens® programs, and Senior Researcher at the University of Melbourne. As part of our 2025 College theme, "Connection" (Mark 12:30 - 31), this session will explore how emotional intelligence can strengthen the bonds between parents and their pre-teen or teenage children. Grounded in research, this workshop will help parents build empathy, understanding and grace in the home: creating spaces where children feel seen, heard and deeply loved.
During this special evening, Dr Kehoe will share practical tools to:
- Understand emotions as a bridge for connection
- Recognise and respond to your child’s emotional needs
- Guide your child in managing big feelings with wisdom
Children who develop emotional intelligence often experience stronger friendships, better concentration at school, improved wellbeing, lower levels of anxiety, and greater peace in their relationships.
