Community Briefing: Human Rights Act for NSW

            About
The NSW Parliament currently has an opportunity to take a historic step forward by establishing an inquiry into a Human Rights Act. Please join the Human Rights Act for NSW Alliance for a free online lunchtime community briefing.
We'll explain why 118 organisations and experts are calling for a private member's Human Rights Bill, introduced last week by Jenny Leong MP, to be referred for a comprehensive community consultation. We’ll also explain what a Human Rights Act could mean for you and your community, how other states and territories already protect human rights in law, and actions that you can take to call on all NSW Parliamentarians to support an inquiry.
We want everyone to join a conversation about ensuring values we all share - like fairness, respect, dignity and compassion - are always at the heart of government decisions, laws, and services.
ONLINE Tuesday 4th November 2025 from 12.00pm - 1.30pm AESDT
Featured Guest:

Scott McDougall, who has just completed his term as Queensland’s inaugural Human Rights Commissioner, will share how Queensland’s Human Rights Act 2019 has delivered concrete benefits across the community by placing dignity at the heart of the work of government—and providing accessible solutions when rights are breached.
