
30th Anniversary: Open Day
Join the Jewish Museum of Australia: Gandel Centre of Judaica in celebrating 30 years in our beloved Alma Road home. Since opening our doors in 1995, the Museum has welcomed visitors from across the country and the world to explore the richness and diversity of Australian Jewish life, culture, and identity. Experience children’s storytelling, art-making activities, panel discussions, exclusive Collection item viewings and live music in an open day like no other- and it’s all free, all day long! Come celebrate this milestone anniversary and honour the people, stories, and partnerships that have shaped the Museum’s past, present and future. Entry is free, registration essential.

10.30am – 11.30am: Chanukkah Storytime with PJ Library
Featuring Hila Ben Gera, join us for a musical Chanukkah storytime bursting with PJ Library stories, songs and scrumptious donuts — fun for little lights and their grown-ups!
11am – 11.45am: Curator Guided Tour
Join curator Esther Gyorki for a deep dive into Tammy Kanat: Circle of Her.
12pm – 1pm: Stories from the Collection
A rare chance to hear past and present curators bring their favourite Museum Collection objects to life through personal insights, history, and storytelling.
1.30pm – 2.15pm: Jewish Jazz Melodies
Get ready to boogie with a groovy jazz performance by Rita Satch and Daniel Mougerman, honouring the legacies of Jewish performers and composers.
2.15pm – 3pm: Afternoon Tea
Reminisce, share stories and celebrate together over a drink and delicious kosher afternoon tea treats.
3 – 4.30 pm Looking Back: Three Decades at Alma Road
Join Museum Director & CEO Sidra Moshinsky along with past and current board members as they share personal reflections and memorable moments from the Museum’s three decades at Alma Road.
