The colour of royalty, longing and loss, purple has enticed composers and songwriters through the ages. The 'The Colour Purple' explores how the most enigmatic of colours has pervaded choral music in a program that embraces Bach’s St Matthew Passion, Medieval chant, Advent carols, an iconic anthem by Prince and a chorus from the musical, 'The Colour Purple'. The Choir of Newman College will also be joined by the saxophonist, Lola Schuele, to perform a trio of contemporary compositions for the enchanting combination of solo saxophone and a capella choir.Date
