Zonta's Mount Isa White Ribbon Breakfast 2025
The White Ribbon Campaign is working to prevent the most common and pervasive form of male violence – that towards women. By preventing men’s violence against women, all of society benefits.
Join us and take a public stand against domestic violence against women. Co-hosted by the Zonta Club of Mount Isa and the Mount Isa White Ribbon Committee; all are welcome.
GUEST SPEAKERS - we have two guest speakers to keep you engaged!
Fr Mick Lowcock, who really needs no introduction, will share his views on why family and domestic violence is a man's business; and how we can better engage men and boys to see that Domestic and Family Violence is their problem to fix, not women's problem to tolerate.
Aunty Dolly Hankin, born and raised on Thursday Island, this devoted Elder has lived in Mount Isa since 1981. Her outstanding community work in Mount Isa, and her daily contributions to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ministry, give her a wealth of knowledge and experience. But for our White Ribbon Breakfast, it is her personal story that holds particular significance. With courage and generosity, Aunty Dolly will share lived experiences that speak to resilience, respect, healing and the importance of standing together to end violence against women. Her voice is powerful because it comes from the heart — and we are deeply grateful for her willingness to share her journey with us.
We are pleased to welcome Vaughan Clacher as our MC for this year's breakfast. Vaughan is the Acting Senior Sergeant with the Mount Isa District Vulnerable Persons Unit, and is a familiar and respected presence in our community. We are grateful to have him guide us through the breakfast program.
