The GIFT
About
Be part of the audience for an exquisite concert collaboration between The Canberra Mandolin Orchestra and The Canberra Recorder Orchestra.Purposely not planned as a traditional Christmas concert, there will of course be the occasional reference to the festive season, compositions by familiar names, including Ravel, Shostakovich, and Haydn, and an opportunity to travel between the delicate tones of the mandolin and its family, and the warm timbres of a full range of wooden recorders.
Featuring local Year 12 student, Benji Moss, as he makes his concert debut playing Vivaldiās Lute Concerto in D Major (RV 93) arranged specifically for mandolin by Michael Hardy, this is a once-only opportunity to really enjoy The GIFT that a new emerging musician can bring to a first solo performance before venturing out into the world and exploring distant shores.
Taking place on Saturday 6 December in amongst the wonderful acoustics of the All Saints Anglican Church in Ainslie, and under the direction of both Michael Hardy and Margaret Wright OAM CF, this is a Saturday afternoon concert not to be missed.
