A preventative and proactive stance on child safety
About
Victoria will not receive an additional public holiday for ANZAC Day in 2026, as it falls on a Saturday. The session will proceed as scheduled.
If the revised time is no longer suitable for you, please reach out to the Inner East Respectful Relationships team to release your tickets.
This professional learning day is designed for Inner East school staff who wish to deepen their understanding of responding to harmful sexualised behaviours within their school environment. The event will unpack contributing factors, relevant policy and legislation, and best-practice principles for supporting student safety and wellbeing.
This session is particularly relevant for school leadership, MARAM-nominated staff, and all educators involved in wellbeing, safeguarding, and student support.
By the end of this session, participants will:
Build a Strong Foundational Understanding
- Explore key factors that may contribute to harmful sexualised behaviours in children and young people
- Examine developmental contexts and risk indicators across age groups
Strengthen Confidence in Legislative & Policy Requirements
- Learn how Victorian legislation and Department of Education policies relate to harmful sexual behaviours in schools
- Understand mandatory reporting, information sharing, and Child Safe Standards obligations
Reflect on Whole-School Practices
- Review how harmful sexualised behaviours fit within a whole-school approach to wellbeing, prevention, and early intervention
- Consider what coordinated, system-wide responses can look like across staff roles
Apply Best-Practice Principles to Your Context
- Evaluate how a range of best-practice strategies can be adapted for your school setting, including mainstream, specialist, and diverse learning environments
This session is supported by expert partners who bring specialised knowledge and frontline experience.
