Hi folks! Save the date!For the fourth consecutive year our house concert series “Roos Loose in the Top Paddock” will be hopping into North Katoomba on International Day of Music and Friendship, the 26th of January, 2026. This time we’ll be introducing a distinctly porcine flavour to the proceedings. Yep, after four years of tough negotiations and calendar juggling we have finally managed to entice the hillbilly powerhouse that is The Pigs to our otherwise macropod-infested meadow. We also have yet-to-be-announced special guests to complete a a fabulous afternoon of swinish swank.
What exactly do these purveyors of hoggish hijinx have to say about themselves? Read on…
"In 2004, Australia discovered The Pigs. They, however, had known about themselves all along. T-Bone, Stretch, and their cousins Shamus, Bert and Montz had something special—an ewe-nique brand of music… Hillbilly Pop! A wild mash-up of Bluegrass, Country, Rock & Pop, all served with a bucket of fun. Some people think it’s comedy, but they’re just having a good time!
The Pigs have wowed audiences at festivals all over Australia and Europe, releasing five albums along the way. They’re known for transforming songs by Beyoncé, Powderfinger, Farnsy, INXS, Skyhooks, and even Carl Orff into bluegrass anthems—just as they were meant to be! But it’s their originals that fans remember most. Their hilariously quirky hit, Macho Moisturiser, has become an unlikely sing-along classic at Pigs concerts. Still rocking their blue singlets, The Pigs are an unmissable hillbilly powerhouse!”
As usual it’s BYO food, drink, sunscreen and shade and yes, we have a fabulous wet weather alternative at a secret location nearby. Gate opens at 1pm and music starts at 2. We’ll also have a pop-up op shop of quality second hand womens’ and mens’ fashion in two different sizes- Deta’s and Rob’s. Items that have been culled from their extensive haute couture collections (because there simply isn’t enough space in their tiny house) are available-free of charge!- and it is, of course, first in, best dressed. Exact location (in case you didn’t already know) will be provided on purchase of ticket at trybooking. And, as always, proceeds of ticket sales go entirely to the musicians.
