Amplifying the Leadership of Persons with Disabilities
About
The international day of persons with disabilities, celebrated on December 3rd, serves as a reminder of the ongoing need to break down barriers and promote the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities. This theme focuses on building societies that are inclusive and supportive of people with disabilities to build an overall social development and address inequalities. It encourages the creation of inclusive societies where people with disabilities can fully participate in all aspects of life.
We'll be joined by three wonderful speakers:
Sugandha (Sig) Chapman
Sugandha is a leadership futurist, inclusion strategist and ADHD-powered storyteller helping organisations re-imagine leadership for a world built on difference. With over a decade in DEI, culture and capability development, she’s worked with clients globally including Coca-Cola, CBA, Woolworths and Adobe to humanise leadership and make inclusion actionable.
A late-diagnosed woman of colour and daughter of immigrants, Sig blends lived experience and behavioural science to move leaders from awareness to activation and systemic change. Through keynotes, executive facilitation and media, she challenges audiences to stop performing to belong - and start leading with purpose, courage and humanity.
John Morrison
John is currently employed nu RMIT as an IT Database Administrator. He has been providing IT services for approximately 40 years across a wide range of organisations, including Macquarie Bank, Fujitsu, Telstra, Commonwealth Securities, NAB, IBM, ANZ, and many others throughout his consulting career.
John completed a Bachelor's degree in Electronic and Computer Engineering at Monash University in 1985.
In 2021, John suffered a stroke that resulted in the partial loss of movement on the right side of his body, as well as a complete loss of speech due to Apraxia of Speech. For those who knew him before, this could be seen as a blessing in disguise! John's recovery from the stroke has taken quite a considerable period of time for the physical aspects, and his speech is returning slowly.
