End of Year 6 Party ‘A Night of Sparkle by the Swan River’
About
What: This is an end of Junior School party for the PLC 2025 Year 6 students and their parents/guardians to get together and celebrate before the students start at Senior School next year.Who: This party is for the Year 6 students and their parents/guardians. Each student must be accompanied and supervised by an adult.
When: 5.30pm to 9.30pm, Friday 28 November 2025
Where: “The Lawn” Function Area at Perth Flying Squadron Yacht Club, The Esplanade, Dalkeith
Dress: Casual with a touch of sparkle.
A warm layer is suggested in case of a strong sea breeze and cool evening.
Tickets: $90 for each student; and $90 for each parent/guardian.
Inclusions: Tickets include food, drink and entertainment as below, all at a fabulous outdoor venue within the Perth Flying Squadron Yacht Club by the Swan River.
Gift: We have also organised a small jewellery gift for each student as a memento of their final year of Junior School and this is included in the ticket price. The gift has (so far!) been kept a secret from the students and we would love to keep it as a surprise for the evening, if possible!
Student Food: Shared Pizzas, a soft drink token and gelato cart.
Parent/Guardian Food : Catered cocktail canapés (e.g. chicken skewers, samosas, arancini, sausage rolls, mini quiches etc); and substantial canapés (e.g., beef sliders and chicken or vegetarian curry with rice) and gelato cart.
Drinks: Each student will receive a token for a soft drink included in their ticket price; additional soft drinks may be purchased; and a cash bar (card tap) will be available to purchase soft drinks or alcoholic beverages for the adults.
Entertainment: Two sets from a DJ who will play music for dancing, along with hosting some organised dance games. There will also be a fun Photo Booth.
Decorations: An active group of parent volunteers, now known as the “Sparkle Makers” are working on decorations for the event and to ‘sparkle up’ the evening!
The ticket price also contributes to the cost of these decorations, with some items being loaned or donated from the parent/guardian group.
If you are a parent or guardian who is not yet a ‘Sparkle Maker’, but would like to participate and work on the decorations or set up on the morning of the event, please let us know so that you may be added to the ‘Sparkle Makers’ WhatsApp group.
Budget: We have created a budget for this event to calculate an appropriate ticket price. The ticket price funds the event and as a parent organised event there is no contribution to the costs from the school. We have opened a separate bank account and deposited a float to pay reservation deposits. All proceeds of ticket sales from Trybooking will be deposited into this bank account and invoices for all expenses will be paid from this account. To the best of our knowledge we have accurately estimated costs and an appropriate ticket price. To the extent that there are any excess funds remaining in the bank account following the event this will be reported back to the Year 6 group. It is proposed that excess funds (should there be any) be contributed to the costs of group end of year gifts for the Year 6 teachers. A communication will be sent out via the Y6 parents WhatsApp group prior to using any excess funds for this purpose to ensure that a majority of purchasers of tickets agree.
Supervision: This is a parent organised event and not an official school event. Each student attending must be supervised by a parent or adult guardian for the duration of the event. Please note that the venue is outdoors and by the river. “The Lawn” Function Area is an open area within the Perth Flying Squadron Yacht Club adjacent to the clubhouse. It is fenced on three sides and unfenced at one end. It is also adjacent to a public park. All parents/guardians are requested to ensure that any students for which they are responsible stay within the party area at the Yacht Club during the event.
