Under Pressure: Small Practice, Stress, Setbacks and Success
About
The ACA QLD/NT Committee warmly invites you to our end-of-year Business of Small Practice (BoSP) event, where we’ll explore the pressures shaping small practice and share practical tools to help you survive and thrive. Stay on for good conversation, connection, and a relaxed start to the festive season.Running a small practice can be exhilarating, creative, and deeply meaningful. It can also be incredibly tough. Between clients, staff, cash flow, and competing deadlines, architects often carry a workload that stretches beyond drawings and deliverables.
Psychologist Nathaniel Wells brings experience working with everyone from business leaders to ballet dancers. His work spans burnout, conflict, performance optimisation, and the messy middle ground of real life. Nathaniel’s grounded, practical style helps people better understand their patterns and their potential.
Across the evening, Nathaniel will unpack topics especially relevant to small architectural practice, including:
• Managing difficult conversations, pressure, and burnout
• Navigating internal and external conflict
• Understanding your spheres of control
• Recognising and disrupting burnout cycles
When booking, you’re invited to submit a question or scenario you’d like addressed. This evening is designed to be supportive, practical, and genuinely useful for small practices navigating uncertain work cycles, tricky relationships, and the constant pressure to perform.
We look forward to welcoming you!
