"Hello, look my name is Gwen and I am a parent at this school and I am ringing tonight to make a complaint.
I came and saw a show from your VCE Theatre Studies class last year, they did two plays, one about four gay guys writing a bad musical and another about two gay guys who are waiting for God, anyway those shows were so excellent and I cannot get that monkeys and playbills song out of my head anyway, I jumped on Trybooking to book for this year's show and I find out that you're doing some show based on Shakespeare instead, I think it is such a shame that the teacher clearly picked this one and didn't let the kids do their little songs and dances. He's probably some guy who thinks he's real avant garde because he makes teenagers learn sonnets what an ego-maniac.
But the students have put a lot of effort into it, they've got Bryden Deyzel playing Tom and Marlo Krause playing Meg which I think is a great shout. They have the Falcke twins in this class too, Caleb is playing a school Principal and his little sister Jasmine is playing Meg's mum Gwen (wasn't she great as Veronica in Legally Blonde last year?) with class newcomer Alexei playing her husband Jim. Spencer is reprising his role as an annoying Irishman but this time he's Tom's dad too with the always brilliant Luca playing Tom's mum Vic. The main ensemble is rounded out with Evie and Hannah playing the principal's wife Coral, I heard they're going to perform taking turns a word at a time.
We have supporting roles from Jacob, Romy (another newcomer) Indi and Taylor to look forward to and Emily, Kady, Delanah filling the stage with some magic too.
Apparently this performance is a dress rehearsal for them going off to Mount Waverley Secondary College on Friday the 29th of May (Which is the first I am hearing about it, nothing on Compass) to perform for the Drama class there and get a 'rich learning experience' of what a travelling show is like, but isn't that what MAP Theatre Tour is for?
Anyway I'm going to come along anyway because my daughter Meg is in it, but I am not happy about it and I will be writing to the school council president in the morning.
