Jazz REC - Years 1-2

Dance JFH REC is for students who want to learn dance in a fun and supportive environment Hop with a focus on technique and performance skills. JFH is a fun stylised combination of Jazz, Funk and Hip Hop, a more current style of dance. A power packed class will focus on strengthening foundational skills and core strength through exercises and choreographed combinations. The class will be challenged to learn a choreographed routine to perform at the Barker Dance Showcase at the beginning of Term 3.

Uniform: Jazz shoes - girls: tanned elastic; boys: black elastic

Ballet/Lyrical REC - Years 1-2
Wednesday 2.45-3.45pm 
Dance REC is for students who want to learn dance in a fun and supportive environment and progress in Ballet and Lyrical technique and performance skills. Lyrical is a fusion of Ballet, Contemporary and soft Jazz with the class focussing on foundational skills and core strength through exercises and choreographed combinations. They will learn correct posture, positioning and terminology, exploring the relationship between movement and music. The class will learn practise a routine based on the skills they have learned to perform at the Barker Dance Showcase at the beginning of Term 3.

Uniform: Flat ballet shoes

Kindy Dance For Joy – Jazz

Kindy Jazz is perfect for Kindy students who like to groove along to music and would like to learn dance in a safe and supportive environment. Students will explore how their bodies can move to music learning the fundamentals of jazz through easy to follow choreographed combinations, strengthening coordination and strength. They’ll engage in some game-based exercises, expressing themselves creatively through freestyle dance. The class will practise a short routine to perfrom at the Barker Dance Showcase at the beginning of Term 3.

Tap REC- Years 1-2
Thursday 2.45-3.45pm
Dance REC is a fun and supportive environment for your child to learn the fundamentals of Tap focussing on technique and performance skills. They’ll tap away to the latest hits learning a super funky energetic style of tap through fun choreographed combinations and preparing a dazzling routine to perform at the Barker Dance Showcase at the beginning of Term 3. They will learn correct posture, positioning and terminology, exploring the relationship between movement and music and how bodies can be an instrument for rhythm.

Uniform:  Black tap shoes.

Kindy Dance For Joy – Ballet
Friday 2.45-3.45pm
Kindy Ballet is perfect for Kindy ballerinas and male dancers that love to pirouette and jete down the supermarket isles and would like to dance in a safe and supportive environment. Students will explore foundational postures and steps allowing them to express themselves and tell stories with their bodies. They will engage in game based exercises and enjoy free dancing. The class will practise a short routine to perform at the Barker Dance Showcase at the beginning of Term 3.
