The Webinar - “Playfully Recharging Your Brain, Body, and Spirit: Self-Care for Play Therapists”
Play therapy asks a lot of us - creativity, empathy, and emotional presence. But what happens when our own energy runs low? In this webinar, Dr Akiko Ohnogi invites play therapists to pause, reconnect with their playful vitality, and explore practical ways to recharge.
Drawing on neuroscience, trauma-informed insights, and the power of play, participants will engage in reflective and experiential exercises to restore emotional, physical, and creative energy. Together, we’ll consider culturally sensitive approaches to self-care and discover strategies that feel energising, doable, and joyful—helping therapists sustain their well-being while continuing to care for others.
Come ready to play, reflect, and leave with practical tools to nurture your own resilience, spark creativity and keep your inner light shining—for yourself and the children and families you serve.
By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:
1. Identify common signs of emotional and physical depletion among play therapists and understand their neurobiological roots.
2. Describe how play and playfulness can promote self-regulation and resilience in therapists.
3. Apply at least two practical self-care strategies that integrate neuroscience and play-based principles.
4. Reflect on personal patterns of self-care and develop individualized approaches to sustaining professional well-being.
