Goldstone Gallery
About
Goldstone Gallery invites the Shira community to an intimate viewing of ‘October 7: Atrocity, Antisemitism and Resilience’ on Tuesday 2 December at 7pm. This landmark exhibition curated by artist and Goldstone Gallery co-founder Nina Sanadze is the only one of its kind in Australia. The exhibition memorialises the event of October 7 and considers the subsequent surge of antisemitism.‘October 7: Atrocity, Antisemitism and Resilience’ spans two levels and seven rooms, with 11 artists and 16 writers presenting documentary materials, films, photographs, installations, poetry, books, and virtual reality works. The first installation room ‘The Bridge’ recreates HaBayit HaLavan The White House Gallery in Kibbutz Nir Oz as it was before October 7. Founded by Chaim Peri (z’l) and Tamar Siman Tov (z’l) - both of whom were murdered during the attacks - the space was dedicated to presenting Israeli and Palestinian artists side by side.
The exhibition invites people to bear witness and also to find moments of hope and light within the lives and dreams of those who were killed on October 7 and those who survived. It further explores the resilience displayed by Jewish artists contending with the dehumanising forces of antisemitism.
Curator Nina Sanadze, Danny Ben-Moshe (director of the numerous documentaries punctuating the exhibition) and Tali Lavi (curator of the poetry strand and library space) will speak about the experience of creating work out of October 7 and its aftermath.
Event duration: approximately 1.5 hours.
The Gallery is over 2 floors with the bathroom situated upstairs and unfortunately does not have wheelchair access.
