Kusamono Workshop - Create your own living art (SOLD OUT)
About
Kusamono: Nature’s Tiny MasterpiecesKusamono — or kusas, as they are fondly called — are living works of art: miniature landscapes that capture the spirit of nature in its many moods. Each arrangement evokes a scene from the wild — a misty wetland, a sunny meadow, a shaded woodland, or even a tranquil waterscape. These tiny tributes to the natural world reflect not just one season, but often a beautiful succession of them. It’s like having your own pocket-sized wilderness to nurture and enjoy.
Discover the peaceful art of kusamono — the Japanese practice of arranging seasonal plants in beautiful, minimalist displays that capture the spirit of nature and a functioning ecosystem. In this hands-on, two-hour workshop, you’ll create your own unique arrangement using exclusively Tasmanian native plants, celebrating the beauty and diversity of our local flora.
Join Jarryd Bailey on November 30 for a guided experience in creating your very own tiny masterpiece. Jarryd will take you through the subtleties of container selection, plant choices, texture, colour harmony, and composition — showing you how to design a naturalistic miniature scene. You’ll also explore how to enhance your creation with decorative touches such as moss, pebbles, stones, and small ground plants.
