Eleven Modules delivered via ELMO online to be completed over the course of 12 months.Module 1– OT Frameworks, Foundations and How We Show Up (4 hrs)
Apply OTA frameworks, models, and documentation standards.
Develop a personal self-care and sensory regulation plan for sustainable practice.
Re-examining models (e.g. MOHO) and how motivation and volition guide occupation.
Module 2– SENSES model (4 hrs)
Explore the OTFC SENSES model and how trauma-informed, culturally safe, and neuro-affirming practice shapes therapeutic engagement. Develop reflective skills in co-regulation, trust-building, and family-inclusive recovery.
Module 3 – Understanding Adolescent Neurodiversity & Mental Health (4 hrs)
Examine how ADHD, ASD, and mood disorders intersect with function and participation.
Learn OTFC strategies to support youth.
Module 4 – Screening, Assessment & Functional Formulation (4 hrs)
Apply OTFC’s intake and triage framework using Mental health screens, OT Assessments and Sensory Assessments. Integrate risk, sensory, and functional data to create clear, occupation-based formulations.
Module 5 – Sensory Modulation & Regulation Foundations (4 hrs)
Understand arousal regulation through sensory modulation and co-regulation principles.
Utilise Sensory Modulation frameworks to support and embed sensory safety into therapy and
environments.
Module 6 – Functional Interventions for Anxiety & Depression (4 hrs)
Use Behavioural Activation, graded exposure, and CBT-I to address anxiety and depression.
Link sensory supports to participation goals and measure outcomes using OT tools.
Module 7 – Trauma, Emotional Regulation & DBT-lite in OT Practice (4 hrs)
Apply trauma-informed OT principles and sensory-based DBT-lite techniques for stabilisation.
Balance safety, autonomy, and empowerment in emotional regulation work.
Module 8 – ACT, Motivation & Meaningful Participation (4 hrs)
Integrate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Motivational Interviewing into OT sessions. Support values-based participation and motivation through the SENSES model.
Module 9 – Crisis, Risk & Safety Management for Neurodivergent Youth (4 hrs)
Use ATS triage, SPI, and Beyond Now frameworks to manage suicide and crisis risk safely.
Adapt crisis planning to neurodivergent presentations using sensory-first strategies.
Module 10 – Collaboration, Family Systems & Cultural Safety (4 hrs)
Build culturally safe, family-inclusive care aligned with AHPRA and OTFC standards.
Learn to co-design interventions with families, peers, and lived-experience workers
Module 11– Supervision & Clinician Wellbeing (4 hrs)
Develop a personal self-care and sensory regulation plan for sustainable practice.
