Coercive Control - Free community information session
About
This session is for community members. If you are a health professional, community worker, or business owner/leader, please attend the 'Coercive Control for Professionals' session at: https://www.trybooking.com/DHLUCCoercive control is repetitive behaviour used to control someone within a relationship. Whilst many people are subjected to coercive control by their partner, they
often do not recognise it as a form of abuse.
In this session we will provide participants with answers to the following questions:
- What is coercive control?
- What does it look like in relationships?
- What are the dangers of coercive control?
- Why do women find it hard to leave these situations?
There will also be a focus on technology-facilitated abuse including how to to assist clients and employers to respond to it and safeguard against it.
This information session will be co-presented by representatives from Relationships Australia Victoria and Greater Shepparton City Council, and is being provided as part of the 16 Days of Activism against gender-based violence events offered by Greater Shepparton City Council and Goulburn Integrated Family Violence Services Executive. It can be offered free to the community thanks to funding received by Greater Shepparton City Council for the Free from Violence Local Government Program (Victorian State Government), and Respect Victoria’s 16 Days of Activism grassroots initiative.
