The Sunshine Coast Chapter meet on the third Thursday of the monthAgenda: Male victims of DV
Presented by Marcus Priaulx.
The presentation will be on a first of its kind research that examined how societal attitudes towards intimate partner violence endanger First Nations men.
It involved asking frontline workers about their experiences and perceptions when supporting Australia’s First Nations' males who are the victims of female-perpetrated Intimate Partner Violence (IPV)? In doing so we have discovered their challenges, successes and ideas on how to reduce IPV against First Nations men, and men in general.
The study was done by Master of Counselling Graduate Marcus Priaulx. Marcus has decades of experience working with First Nations people, eight of these with young men at high schools and in their early twenties. He has now just begun his own Counselling 4 Clarity telehealth / online counselling service.
