Ballet/ Lyrical REC– Years 3-6
Tuesday 3.00-4.15pm 
Dance REC is for students who want to learn dance in a fun and supportive environment to learn, improve and progress in Ballet and Lyrical technique and performance skills. The class will focus on strengthening fundamentals and learning more complex steps through choreographed combinations. They will learn correct posture, positioning using correct technique, muscle control and terminology. Students will be challenged to extend their skills by learning a choreographed routine to perform at the Barker Dance Showcase at the beginning of Term 3.

JFH REC (Jazz/Funk/Hip Hop) Years 5-6
Wednesday 3.00-4.15pm
Dance REC is for students who want to learn to dance in a fun and supportive environment with a focus on technique and performance skills. JFH is a fun stylised combination of Jazz, Funk and Hip Hop, a more current style of dance. A power packed class learning increasingly challenging skills and combinations with an awareness of coordination, muscle control and musicality. Throughout the year the class will be challenged to choreograph a routine to perform at the Barker Dance Showcase at the beginning of Term 3.

Uniform: Barker Dance tights and singlet (girls) sport shorts and dance t-shirt (boys)
Shoes: Jazz shoes (girls: tanned elastic; boys: black elastic)

Jazz REC - Years 3-6

Dance REC is for students who want to learn to dance in a fun and supportive environment with a focus on technique and performance skills. The class will focus on strength, coordination, muscle control and musicality exploring styles of Jazz and energetic combinations. The class will be challenged to learn a choreographed a routine to perform at the Barker Dance Showcase at the beginning of Term 3.

BOYS Hip Hop REC - Years 3-6
Thursday 3.00 - 4.15pm 
This Dance REC class is for boys only who want to learn Hip Hop in a fun, supportive and safe environment. The boys will feel awesome as they learn hip hop technique so they can bust a move with confidence and safely learn beginners breaking tricks improving muscle strength and control. The boys will learn how their bodies can work with rhythm to have dance challenges, cheering each other on and celebrating their progress together. Throughout the year the class will choreograph a powerful routine to perform at the Barker Dance Showcase at the beginning of Term 3.

Uniform: Barker sport shorts, Barker sport polo or dance t-shirt
Shoes: Joggers.

Dance REC Tap Years 3-6
Friday 3.00-4.15pm
Tap REC is a fun and supportive environment for your child to build on the fundamentals of Tap focussing on technique and performance skills. They’ll tap away to the latest hits learning a super funky energetic style of tap through increasingly complex and fun choreographed combinations and preparing a dazzling routine to perform at the Barker Dance Showcase at the beginning of Term 3.
They will learn correct posture, positioning and terminology, exploring the relationship between movement and music and how bodies can be an instrument for rhythm.

Uniform: Barker Dance tights and singlet (girls) sport shorts and dance t-shirt (boys)
Shoes: black tap shoes.
