About the Nipper Rescue Certificate (NRC)The Nipper Rescue Certificate (NRC) is a water safety and rescue qualification that enables members to provide water safety support for Woodside Nipper activities. The certificate is valid until December 2026.
The NRC is designed to allow parents and guardians to actively assist in delivering safe and effective water-based Nipper programs. It also provides a pathway into broader lifesaving roles, such as beach patrols or carnival water safety.
Proficiency Requirements
To earn the NRC, participants must demonstrate the ability to:
Complete a 200m ocean swim in under 6 minutes.
Perform an aquatic rescue using a rescue tube and contact tow.
Demonstrate appropriate water safety signals.
All rescue techniques and signals will be taught during the NRC training.
Requalification
To remain current, NRC holders must complete an annual proficiency assessment at the club.
