Once you register, you’ll receive an email with your unique Zoom/online meeting link, along with instructions for joining from your phone, laptop, tablet, or desktop.On the day of the event:
Click the meeting link in your confirmation or reminder email.
You’ll be taken directly to the online room — no app required, but you can download it for a smoother experience.
Please join a few minutes early to check your audio and video settings.
Headphones or captions are recommended for clearer communication, and live captions will be enabled in the session for accessibility.
If you have any trouble joining or you need an interpreter present, simply reply to your confirmation email and we’ll be able to help you get connected.
CONSENT:
1. Purpose of the Group
This support group is an online peer-based gathering for young adults (approx. 18–35) with hearing loss. The aim is connection, shared experience and general hearing/communication discussion in a supportive environment.
2. Nature of Service
• This group is not clinical treatment or therapy.
• No assessments, diagnoses, prescriptions, or individualised clinical recommendations will be provided.
• Discussions will be general and group-focused. Participants are responsible for their own decisions.
3. Facilitator
Facilitated by Jessica Libby, Audiologist & Speech Pathologist. Jess will guide discussion, ensure respectful conduct, monitor risk, and provide resources or referrals if needed. The session will be cancelled if Jessica is unexpectedly unavailable.
4. Participation Requirements
Participants agree to:
• Attend via Zoom using a stable internet connection
• Engage respectfully with others and respect diverse experiences
• Avoid sharing personal medical advice to other members
• Not record or distribute group content
Attendance is voluntary and participants may withdraw at any time.
5. Confidentiality
Confidentiality is expected, however it cannot be guaranteed due to group format.
Information may need to be shared outside the group if:
• There is immediate risk of harm to self or others
• Required by law (e.g. subpoena, mandatory reporting)
No clinical notes will be stored. Attendance lists may be held for administrative purposes only.
6. Privacy & Technology Use
Sessions are hosted via Zoom. While every effort is made to protect privacy, online security cannot be guaranteed. Participants are advised to join in a private space and use secure personal devices.
No session recording is permitted by facilitators or attendees.
7. Mental Health & Crisis Support
This group is not a substitute for professional medical, psychological or crisis care. If emotional distress arises, participants may be encouraged to seek individual support. In emergencies, call 000, Lifeline 13 11 14, or your GP/health provider.
8. Consent Declaration
By signing below, I confirm that:
