AAEEWA T-shirts
About
The T-shirts are designed by Noongar artist, Melissa Spillman, based on ideas from AAEEWA members. The Chapter’s work in supporting environmental education across our vast State is demonstrated using colours that deeply reflect the natural Western Australian landscape. Central to the collaborative vision of AAEEWA, the artwork highlights the many interconnections between groups by using the nautilus, our spiral journey way. Starting with AAEEWA in the centre of the artwork, where members come together for empowering conversations to plan and work together, it shows our spiral journey way, highlighting the many interconnections and partnerships between communities. Circles and dots embody the connections between AAEEWA’s communities through its Chapter members. The large and small U-shapes that make up meeting circles show our intergenerational reach in programs like Little Green Steps WA, Earth Day, BEES Day, Catchments Corridors and Coasts, and the WA Sustainability Education Forum. The human and numbat footprints highlight our walking together with nature and our respect for the planet, as we look towards a sustainable and regenerative future. The different animals represent our commitment to programs like Dolphin Watch and Turtle Watch, as well as caring for the waterways and oceans.
In essence the design depicts the organic flow between all elements and systems, enabling continuous growth through listening, collaboration and the positive nurturing of understandings, together with action contributing to a sustainable world.
