About
🦅 Kanyana Keepers: Birds | A Half-Day Wildlife Experience for Ages 11–14.Take flight into the world of native birds in this 3.5-hour afternoon program (1:00pm–4:30pm) designed for young wildlife enthusiasts eager to learn more about our feathered friends!
🐦 Meet Our Bird Ambassadors, which may include:
- Tawny Frogmouths
- Cockatoos
- Bush Stone-Curlews
- Owls
- Raptors
…and more!
Participants will explore how different birds communicate, forage, navigate their environment, and use their incredible adaptations for survival.
🪶 Keeper Skills & Hands-On Learning! Participants will:
- Learn the basics of bird care and how we support different species at Kanyana
- Examine feathers, nests, eggs and other biofacts to understand their unique adaptations
- Have a go at preparing food items and completing husbandry tasks
- Observe bird behaviours up-close and discuss what they indicate
- Create a bird-inspired craft and enrichment activity
🧢 What to Bring:
- Afternoon tea
- Water bottle
- Enclosed shoes (required for safety)
Safety & Supervision:
Fully supervised by trained Kanyana staff and Program Leaders with WWCC and First Aid. This is a drop-off program — parents do not need to stay onsite.
Please arrive 15 minutes early for sign-in so the adventure can begin on time!
