What sort of excuse do you need to crack a bottle of great sparkling wine? Well, not much of one I reckon, and at the peak of the silly season who could argue against that?
Don’t just limit your choice to Grand Cru Champagne (no complaints if you do) but maybe think outside the square. How about a top flight Prosecco, Moscato d’Asti or even a Lambrusco if your preference is for an Italian. Better still, why not present a fine example of that great Aussie invention - Sparkling Shiraz or Sparkling Cabernet or even Durif!!!
In keeping with the silly season theme, we may even engage in the ancient art of ‘Sabrage’ i.e. the opening of a bottle of sparkling with a sabre - it’s great fun and the wine doesn’t mind!
So, dig out your favourite or an unusual Fizz and join your friends at the BC Christmas table for a celebration of all things sparkling, accompanied by a sumptuous themed luncheon by La Provence de Mer Chef Andrew Howarth.
