About
If your new year's resolution means improving your communication and leadership skills set aside two Saturdays in March to build a solid foundation.Members of three Toastmasters clubs from Rockhampton and Yeppoon will come together to share the world's most popular program for thinking, speaking, listening and responding. All with a Central Queensland accent.
Your financial commitment is $390, which provides you with
- Access to Toastmasters International materials and support from a local Toastmasters club for at least 6 months, and
- Opportunities to present at least 3 speeches over two weekends, a fortnight apart;
- Advice from mentors to assist with preparation of your speeches and development of your skills;
- Constructive evaluation of your speeches by several experienced communicators.
- Presentations on particular skills by experienced speakers
Speak for Yourself will be held on Saturday 14 and 28 March from 10 am to 4 pm at the Athelstane Bowls Club, Ward Street, Rockhampton.
During the program, you will prepare and deliver at least 3 speeches on subjects you choose, and practice answering unexpected questions several times. You will also gain skills in giving constructive feedback to other speakers.
Participants choose what they wish to speak about. Experienced Toastmasters will provide coaching and internationally acclaimed materials on:
- Controlling your fear
- Creating an introduction
- Answering unexpected questions
- Organising your speech
- Beginning your speech
- Matching your topic to your audience
- Using gestures and vocal variety
- Concluding your speech
- Giving effective feedback
