Yantra de Vilder | In Search of the Artistic Moment  (opening event)

Opens Friday 24 April 2026 at 6pm

Moving Image Gallery

The journey to the artistic moment is one that has woven itself throughout Dr Yantra de Vilder’s life, from the early days of exploring sound and vision to the intricate tapestry of collaborative art projects. This installation is both a reflection and a meditation on those moments. It's also an invitation – to artists, dreamers, thinkers, and creators – to notice, nurture, and recognise that space when it arrives.

The exhibition runs from 25 April until 14 June 2026

Brett McMahon | Under Story (opening event)

Opens Friday 15 May 2026 at 6pm

Under Story is a body of work that has grown out of the artist's discovery and exploration of the diverse and evocative bushland of the Bouddi National Park, Darkinjung Country, the Central Coast of New South Wales. The twisted, intersecting tree forms and the puzzle patchwork of the windswept heath vegetation provide the subject matter for paintings, drawings and sculptural forms that amplify and abstract the experience of walking and working in this richly rewarding landscape.

The exhibition runs from 16 May until 12 July 2026

James Drinkwater and Braddon Snape | Stab a Painting with a Sculpture (opening event)

Opens Friday 15 May 2026 at 6pm

"Played every Thursday, artists James Drinkwater and Braddon Snape initiated an expanded field of aesthetic chess around 2 years ago. This exhibition is its end game... Ultimately this IS how Australian art histories are made – they are an accretion and a release of influence and energy refracted through a given time and place. And here, now, told from Newcastle, this is a new art history, both brash and tender.’’ (extract from Slade, 2025, Brash and tender)

The exhibition runs from 16 May until 12 July 2026

Confluence | David Collins and Ana Pollak (opening event)

Opens Friday 24 July 2026 at 6pm

Where two rivers meet, there’s a mixing of the waters. They mingle, inevitably influencing each other. When two people live and work in close quarters, their qualities rub off on each other: while the individual characteristics of their work remain strong, there is a Confluence of their traits, ideas and practice. Ana Pollak and David Collins have been in a partnership for over 40 years. In their artworks, the nuanced ways of one meet and complement the boldness of the other, and vice versa.

The exhibition runs from 25 July until 13 September 2026

Precious Abundance | Mandy Francis (opening event)

Opens Friday 24 July 2026 at 6pm

Precious Abundance will bring the audience into the artist’s world, which celebrates birds and nature while recognising that abundance has its limits. In her home studio on the Central Coast of New South Wales, Mandy Francis captures fleeting thoughts and scenes, through notes and photographs, translating these into her expressive oil paintings and unique sculptural pieces. The works often unfold through experimentation with paint, colour and materials at hand, adding to a surprise element which Francis hopes can be seen in the works.

The exhibition runs from 25 July until 13 September 2026

Scale | Donna Marcus (opening event)

A survey of thirty years of practice, the exhibition traces connections between the organic, industrial, and domestic, across histories both remembered and imagined, from the miniature to the monumental. Donna Marcus’ practice repurposes sourced plastic and aluminium kitchenware such as teapots, lids, jelly moulds and steamers. Their original uses are recalled and extended by the process of assemblage, as they are combined into the repetitive forms of modernist grids and spheres.

The exhibition runs from 5 December 2026 until 31 January 2027
