2026: Guided by MI + Metaphors
About
2026: Guided by MI + Metaphors
Join me for a mini workshop where I will be combining two of my areas of experience - Motivational Interviewing and Creative Writing!
With a new calendar year ahead, we will draw on aspects of MI and Metaphors to help us think about ourselves and imagine what we would like and need in our work.
You may already know that Motivational Interviewing (MI) provides workers with skills and strategies to support people to plan for and strengthen meaningful change and growth. Did you know, we can also use MI for ourselves! In fact, this is one of the important ways to learn MI and its creators call this 'Real Play'.
When it comes to metaphors, these can offer us new ways to see ourselves and the world, providing us with often times a safe and playful way to understand, hope and reimagine important aspects of our lives.
We'll be using a beautiful new resource created specifically for our workshop, which I will share with you prior to the session. I will be inviting you to listen, try out and apply ideas through a guided activity, as well as providing opportunities to share reflections.
WHO CAN ATTEND
This workshop is helpful for anyone who would like to explore the use of MI and metaphors to consider their work needs and aspirations in 2026. You do not have to know MI. You do not have to be a creative writer, or even like writing (though if you do, that is great). The workshop is designed to offer you choices and you can take up any parts that help you.
** The workshop time is AEST Brisbane. This workshop will fall in AEDT (Daylight Saving time) so your time zone may differ slightly from those advertised. (Don't worry though, as I'll send a reminder in the days before we begin the workshop.
