Autistic and ADHDers Experience of Puberty Feb 2026
About
This professional development session provides a neurodiversity-affirming exploration of puberty through the lived experience of Autistic and ADHD young people. The session examines the intersection of neurological development, emotional regulation, sensory processing, identity formation, and functional participation during puberty.Occupational therapists will deepen their understanding of how pubertal changes can amplify sensory sensitivities, emotional intensity, fatigue, and regulation demands, and how these shifts impact daily occupations, self-care, social participation, and wellbeing. Practical, respectful OT approaches are discussed to support adolescents and families through this complex developmental stage without pathologising or minimising experience.
