Robert Zielinski & Manuela Centanni
About
Robert and Manuela met in New Zealand in 2020.Together, they will perform a concert of Robert's
original compositions inspired by the South West of
Western Australia plus traditional music from Ireland and beyond. They are known for their unique
tone, unison playing, harmonies and arrangements
on violin and wooden flute.
Robert's new composition Kiangardarup premiered
in the Perth Concert Hall in May 2024, receiving a
standing ovation. Robert has recently received many
awards for his album Kiangardarup, including three
silver medals at the Global Music Awards, a win in
the InterContinental Music Awards and winner of
Instrumentalist of the Year at the Australian Folk
Music Awards 2025.
Robert grew up playing traditional Irish music in Perth before moving to the west coast
of Ireland, where he lived for fourteen years. He has toured internationally and taught
for three years in the Galway School of Traditional Irish Music. He is also a violin maker
and performs on his own violin made in 2018.
Manuela graduated from the Conservatoire of Bologna, Italy, in 2009, receiving a
Masters with distinction in flute. She studied under Massimo Pasi. In 2014, she moved to
New Zealand, where she began playing rish music on the wooden flute, that is now her
principal instrument.
