Orchids in the Moonlight
About
Orchids in the Moonlight, written by Mexico's foremost writer, Carlos Fuentes, is a beautiful, multi-layered play dealing with love, illusion delusion and a criticism of the Hollywood machinery which nurtures the blossoming careers of its young starlets but cruelly dumps them when they reach their use-by dates. Set on the day of the death of Orson Welles (who had a four-year relationship with Dolores del Rio), the play centres around two superstars in the golden years of cinema, Dolores del Rio and Maria Felix, who live together in a cloistered apartment in Vienna. Their hermetic life, in which they relive past glories, is threatened with an intrusion from the outside world in the shape of a fan, an admirer of Dolores .This extraordinary play, with its lyrical language and beautiful music, stretches the audience's imagination, leaving them with a lasting experience. $2 from each ticket purchased will be allocated towards the charity, Save the Children.Dates
