About
The first annual QLD Regional Medical Specialty Conference (QRMSC) will be bringing togethermost regional medical specialties, as a conference to educate General Practitioners and medical
specialists alike. There will additionally be a focus on QLD regional medical research published in
the last 5 years. Our goal is to both educate, create discussion and provide education on the working topic: ‘The Challenges of Regional Medicine’. The QRMSC is proudly led by a local Bundaberg Orthopaedic Surgeon, Dr. Anthony Murray from
Town and Country Orthopaedics. Dr. Murray founded the Bundaberg Research Institute (BRI) in
2024 after noticing a significant lack of provision of research publication and research services to
regional doctors, and has proudly produced high quality evidence and literature that has been
published both nationally, and internationally. Growing up in Rockhampton, and going on to
become Australia’s first Aboriginal Orthopaedic Surgeon, he planned lifelong to return to the Wide
Bay regional community to provide the highest major city level surgical care, to regional, rural and
remote communities.
