Everything You Need to Know About Drawing
About
This workshop is the ultimate introduction for beginners.Drawing can turn every day into an adventure. When you learn to see the world through the eyes of an artist, you’ll discover that there is inspiration and playful opportunity at every turn. This workshop will take you through the basics of how to analyse everything you look at and recognize the key elements so you can create better drawings.
We will begin by working through a mini workbook so you can quickly learn the tricks and tips everyone needs to be able to do draw confidently. You will also have the opportunity practise freehand drawing and sketching by participating in a series of easy, anti-perfection, eye-opening drawing exercises designed to help you apply your newfound skills, all with my guidance and support. We will be using both 2D images and 3D objects as inspiration so that by the end of the session, you can expect to walk away with a workbook filled with valuable reference information, and lots of practical examples.
When you become comfortable with drawing and no longer fear it, your sketchbook will be a special place that will provide a relaxing distraction and take your mind off your everyday life. The pages will also offer a private place to try out new techniques, record ideas, collect imagery and focus your attention on something calming. It’s like a playground for your thoughts and feelings and that will even help with emotional healing.
Please note: This workshop focuses on learning ‘how to sketch what you see’. The next step logical step is to learn how to add COLOUR to your repertoire. I teach how to use a wide variety of drawing materials in my Nature Journalling workshop. These two workshops are designed to complement each other to further your skills and enjoyment.
