Understanding Dementia:
This workshop delivers an overview of dementia, including signs and symptoms, causes, and an understanding of how dementia affects the brain and behaviour. In this workshop, your team will be encouraged to reflect on the ways greater understanding translates into person-centred support for people living with dementia.
• Identify changes
• Provide safe, person-centred support
• Help people living with dementia feel understood
Staff will gain knowledge in :
• Understanding the nature of dementia, including prevalence, risks, types of dementia, how the brain works and signs of dementia.
• Develop a person-centred approach to dementia support, including communication, choice and decision-making
• Discover more resources and services available to staff.
Applying a Problem-solving approach to behaviours:
In this dementia training workshop, your team will learn about dementia-related changed behaviours, how to apply a systematic approach to problem solving behaviours and provide positive support strategies for people living with dementia.
Dementia changed behaviour training focussed on:
• recognising early signs and contributing factors
• recognising and reducing risks
• identifying sources of stress for people living with dementia
Staff gain knowledge in:
• systematic problem-solving approaches to changed behaviour
• identifying contributing factors to behaviour change
• support strategies to reduce the risk of changed behaviour.
