Join AMPS Research, CSIRO and Poole Ag to explore the role of summer crops in rotations for the Garah region. This workshop will unpack the opportunities and challenges of summer cropping and support growers and advisors to make confident, well framed rotation decisions.TOPICS:
• Understanding the roll of summer crops in the Garah region. Including, whether summer crops outperform winter-only rotations for production and profitability, and how often a summer crop should be grown (i.e., 1 in 5 or 1 in 7 crops) (AMPS Research)
• Summer cropping case studies and practical tips to maximise returns and rotational benefits from summer crops. Discussion will include balancing winter and summer cropping programs, fallow and soil water management, herbicides, logistics and handling unfavourable seasons (Poole Ag)
• A hands on decision health check to help participants understand their decision process and identify opportunities to improve confidence and outcomes in future rotation choices (CSIRO)
This workshop is delivered as part of the GRDC RiskWi$e initiative.
