The NSW branch of the Australian Association for Infant Mental Health (AAIMH) hosts a monthly online seminar series.Join us at our November 2025 seminar to hear from Associate Professor Sophie Isobel on the topic, "Responding to shame in perinatal mental health care."
This talk will overview shame and consider its relationship to experiences of perinatal distress. Clinical examples will be used alongside discussion of how clinicians can enact shame-sensitive practice within perinatal mental health care.
Sophie is an Associate Professor of Mental Health in the School of Nursing at the University of Sydney. She is also mental health nurse and a child and family health nurse who has worked clinically for over 20 years in a variety of roles with parents and families. Her research largely focuses on trauma and violence informed approaches, including in the perinatal period.
Cost: Free for AAIMH members; $15 for non-AAIMH members. Please note, the session will not be recorded.
