On Saturday 21st February the CMR is hosting train rides at dusk and in the dark. Rides begin at 5pm so that the littlies can enjoy them before they're off to bed but the real fun begins at dusk and in the dark when our incredible light show comes alive! Many of our trains have light shows themselves but the greatest attractions are the animated lights around the tracks. Trains travel beside, around and even under thousands of computer-controlled lights.

***BEING A SPECIAL EVENT, EVERY PERSON (UNLESS AGED 2 OR UNDER) REQUIRES A TICKET TO ENTER. THIS TICKET INCLUDES UNLIMITED RIDES.***

The canteen will be open for yummy hot & cold food & drink (and proper coffee!). Buy your dinner here and enjoy it in our covered picnic area while watching the trains go around.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

Cards only
The Canberra Miniature Railway is now a cashless venue - cash no longer accepted. Please bring your card/device.

Times & Facilities
Your tickets are valid for the entire time that we're open - you do not need to arrive at the advertised start time. Our canteen will be open for yummy hot and cold food and drinks - card payments only (no cash). Parking, toilets and disabled facilities are provided.

Cancellation policy
If you cancel: Refunds requested before the event will be accepted. Regrettably, 'no shows' and refunds requested after the event are ineligible.
If we cancel: If we are forced to cancel the entire session (likely to be for bad weather only) refunds will be processed for all ticket holders. Once the session has begun, refunds will only be available in exceptional circumstances.

Entry
Because the light show is part of the entertainment, ALL PERSONS ENTERING THE SITE MUST HAVE OR BUY A TICKET (except children aged 2 or under - see Small Children below). There is no free entry to this event.

Ticket prices
Unlimited ride tickets can be purchased here for $15 (plus the website’s 88c booking fee) at any time from now, including while we’re open on the day. When buying tickets make sure you select the correct date! Tickets bought over the counter at the ticket box are slightly more expensive at $18.

Small children
1. Children aged two and under enter and ride for free but must be accompanied on trains by a fare-paying responsible person with his or her own ticket. Get your child’s free ticket at the ticket box upon presentation of the child. PLEASE NOTE THAT FOR SAFETY REASONS, CHILDREN AGED 2 AND UNDER (WHO ARE ENTITLED TO FREE TICKETS) ARE NOT PERMITTED TO RIDE ON OUR 5″ GROUND LEVEL TRAINS (THE LITTLE TRAINS) AT ALL. They can still ride our big trains and our steam locomotives on our elevated track. This restriction is lifted when the child turns 3.

2. Children shorter than our height indicators (approx 1.4 metres) cannot ride alone and must be accompanied by a fare-paying responsible person. These indicators are at the ticket box and the station platforms.

3. There are no adult or child tickets – just unlimited ride tickets and except for children aged two or under, every person requires one of these to enter the site.

4. All children must be seated (not held in arms) in front of an older responsible person.

IMPORTANT
Any person wishing to ride the trains MUST WEAR ENCLOSED FOOTWEAR. No open-toe shoes, thongs, flip-flops, etc. are permitted on the trains. PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU AND ALL OF YOUR GUESTS ARE AWARE OF THIS as there can be no refunds if you wear the wrong footwear.
