This hands-on course provides essential training in safe and effective intragavage tube feeding and rehydration of wildlife at Darling Range Wildlife Shelter. Designed for volunteers working with avian patients, the course covers when and when not to tube-feed, pre-feeding health checks, hydration protocols, correct preparation of Spark, Neocare and recovery diets, tube selection and sizing, safe handling and restraint, accurate tube placement, and common complications such as crop stasis, crop burn, and aspiration.Participants will gain practical skills, anatomical understanding, and confidence to perform tube feeding calmly, quickly, and correctly, prioritising animal welfare, safety, and best-practice rehabilitation standards at DRWS.
