On Saturday 14 February, Gold Creek Station opens its doors for a special evening of shared songs, stories, and spontaneous moments, as three exceptional songwriters come together 'Side By Side' on one stage.
Set against the rustic charm of Gold Creek Station — a much-loved venue known for its relaxed country atmosphere, warm hospitality, and wide open spaces — this will be a night that feels less like a concert and more like being welcomed into something genuine. Timber, history, good food, good people, and music that breathes.
From 5:30pm, the venue will be open for drinks and dinner, with a casual, crowd-friendly menu including pizzas, burgers and vegan-friendly options. Settle in early, soak up the surroundings, and let the evening unfold naturally. BYO not available.
The show itself starts at 7:30pm and brings together John Stokes, Jimmy McGrath, and Ricki Wood, performing Side By Side — sharing the stage together, taking turns with songs, swapping stories, and leaving space for impromptu moments that can only happen when artists truly listen to one another.
There will be two sets with an intermission where you can catch up with the artists for a chat and grab some merchandise etc. The show will wrap around 9:45pm.
John Stokes brings an adventurous alt-country spirit shaped by life on the land and the vast Australian landscape. His rich acoustic sound, distinctive alternate tunings, and use of traditional instruments such as didgeridoo, bodhran and clapping sticks create music that feels grounded, expansive and deeply connected to place. With songs forged through lived experience — from farming and shearing to travel and road-worn stories — John’s performances carry both energy and authenticity. With a new album produced by Shane Nicholson soon to be released, this is a chance to hear where his music is heading next.
Jimmy McGrath delivers songs the way an old friend tells a good story — honest, reflective and quietly powerful. His performances are intimate and emotionally resonant, blending folk and country with thoughtful lyricism and a rare sense of vulnerability. Fresh from a standout start to 2025 — including a Top Ten placing in Tamworth’s Best of the Buskers, graduating from the CMAA Academy of Country Music, and winning Ringers Western & 94.1’s *Brand New Star* — Jimmy’s music lingers long after the last note fades.
Ricki Wood walks the line between earthy simplicity and emotional depth, sharing songs shaped by a life well travelled and a heart still wide open. Since hitting the road in 2021, Ricki has performed over 800 shows across Australia, connecting with audiences through heartfelt storytelling and warm, honest delivery. His music has found listeners across Australia and internationally, with recent singles receiving strong radio support throughout Australia, the USA, Europe and the UK. At the core of Ricki’s songs is a quiet yearning for connection — to people, to place, and to something deeper.
Together, these three artists create a night that is unscripted, connected, and deeply human — songs passing between them, stories emerging naturally, and moments that only happen when musicians share the same space and trust the room.
Come early, eat well, stay present, and be part of a night where the music breathes and the stories matter.
